ABOUT MARIACHIACHI PLAZA
Mariachi Plaza is a historic pedestrian mall, cultural haven, and subterranean transit station located at 1st Street and Boyle Avenue ('La Boyle'). Created through the architectural planning and design, and support of its founders, the plaza was established as a matter of environmental justice to protect the community and provide a permanent, dignified haven where mariachi musicians gather, work, and perform.

At the heart of the plaza stands the iconic Kiosco de Cantera Rosa—an authentic pink volcanic stone gazebo hand-crafted in Jalisco, Mexico. When Metro later constructed the underground Gold Line station in 2009, its station architecture was designed to embrace and reflect the cultural energy and architectural symbolism of Mariachi Plaza.
